Prep
Prepare Materials
10 minutes
- Review the Halloween Escape Room Slides and practice the script.
- Print copies of the Spooky Brain Teaser Warm-Up (one per student).
- Print and cut out the clues for the Mystery Mansion Escape Activity. Hide them around the classroom as instructed in the activity.
- Review the Mystery Mansion Answer Key.
Step 1
Warm-Up: Spooky Brain Teaser
5 minutes
- Distribute the Spooky Brain Teaser Warm-Up to each student.
- Instruct students to solve the brain teaser individually or with a partner.
- After 3-4 minutes, briefly discuss the answers as a class.
Step 2
Introduction: Welcome to Mystery Mansion
5 minutes
- Display the first slide of the Halloween Escape Room Slides.
- Read the introduction from the slide deck script, setting the scene for the escape room.
- Explain the objective: teams must work together to find clues and solve puzzles to 'escape' the Mystery Mansion before time runs out.

Main Activity: The Escape Challenge

- Divide students into small groups (3-4 students per group).
- Distribute the initial clue for the Mystery Mansion Escape Activity to each group.
- Monitor groups as they search for clues and solve puzzles. Provide hints if groups are struggling too much, but encourage peer collaboration.
- Announce time remaining at regular intervals (e.g., '10 minutes left!', '5 minutes left!').

5 minutes
- Once time is called or a group successfully 'escapes', gather students back together.

Welcome, brave adventurers! You're trapped in the spooky Mystery Mansion, and the only way out is to solve a series of Halloween-themed puzzles. Work with your team to find the clues hidden around the room, decode them, and uncover the final key to escape!
Teacher Setup Instructions:
- Clue 1 (Start Here!): Place this on each team's desk to begin.
- Clue 2 (Riddle of the Graveyard): Hide this near a classroom plant or a green object.
- Clue 3 (Haunted House Number): Hide this near a classroom door or a display of numbers.
- Clue 4 (Spellbook Symbol Scramble): Hide this on a bookshelf or near a dictionary.

- Final Key: Write the word "GHOST" on a small piece of paper and hide it in an envelope labeled "The Mystery Key" in an obvious but not too easy spot, such as under a specific book or behind a picture frame.
