Expectation Role-Play Stations

Objective: To practice demonstrating positive classroom behaviors and self-regulation strategies in various scenarios.

Instructions:

1. You will work in small groups and rotate through different stations.
2. At each station, you will find a scenario card.
3. Read the scenario together.
4. First, role-play the incorrect way to handle the situation. Show what not to do.
5. Next, role-play the correct way to handle the situation, demonstrating positive behavior and self-regulation.
6. Be ready to share your best role-play with the class!

Station 1: The Interrupting Friend

Scenario: You are working quietly on an assignment. Your friend keeps tapping your shoulder and talking, even though you are trying to concentrate.

Questions to consider:

• How can you show respect for your friend, but also show responsibility for your learning?
• What could you say or do to politely ask your friend to wait?

Station 2: Messy Materials

Scenario: After a group activity, pencils, papers, and scissors are left scattered on the table. It's almost time to transition to the next subject.

Questions to consider:

• Who is responsible for cleaning up?
• What does it look like to be responsible for our shared classroom materials?

Station 3: Feeling Frustrated

Scenario: You are trying to solve a tricky math problem, and you're starting to feel really frustrated. You want to give up or even throw your pencil.

Questions to consider:

• What are some ways to calm yourself down when you feel frustrated?
• How can you show you are ready to learn, even when it's hard?
• Who can you ask for help in a respectful way?

Station 4: Sharing the Ball

Scenario: During recess, two classmates are arguing over who gets to use the kickball next. Everyone wants a turn.

Questions to consider:

• How can you show respect for each other during a disagreement?
• What is a responsible way to share equipment so everyone gets a turn?
