Lesson Plan
Hands Down Minds Up Session 1
By the end of Session 1, the student will be able to identify self-stimulatory behaviors (e.g., putting hands down pants, rocking), recognize the feelings that trigger them, and select an alternative coping tool (e.g., a fidget spinner) instead of stimming.
Awareness of stimming and its emotional triggers builds a foundation for healthier self-regulation and reduces classroom disruptions by providing positive coping alternatives.

Lesson Plan
Hands Down Minds Up Session 2
By the end of Session 2, the student will recall the definition of stimming, demonstrate at least two alternative coping tools in different scenarios, and select a preferred strategy for future use.
Reinforcing and generalizing coping strategies helps the student replace stimming across contexts, increases confidence in self-regulation, and reduces classroom disruptions.
