Stand Strong: Empower Yourself
Welcome students. Introduce the lesson name and objectives. Emphasize the importance of understanding and resisting peer pressure while making independent choices.
Define peer pressure in simple terms. Use relatable examples to make it more understandable to 8th graders. Engage students by asking them if they've ever seen it among friends.
Discuss the various empowerment strategies. Walk through each technique to ensure understanding. Use examples and encourage brief student reflections on situations where these might apply.
Explain the role-play activity. Ensure students understand the scenarios and what is expected from them. Clarify that this is a safe space to practice responses and learn from each other.
Guide students through the reflection activity. Remind them where to record their thoughts (via the Reflection Journal). Ask leading questions to get them thinking about what they learned.
