Lesson Plan

Voice Clues Detective Lesson Plan

Students will learn to identify and interpret non-literal language—humor, sarcasm, and vocal inflection—to boost reading comprehension and social communication. They will accurately label sample sentences and reflect on the vocal cues used.

Non-literal language adds nuance but can confuse young readers. This session helps 3rd graders detect humor, sarcasm, and tone to understand stories better and interact socially, building confidence in subtle language cues.
