Lesson Plan

Words Matter Lesson Plan

Students will understand why slurs like “faggot” and “queer” are harmful, develop empathy for those targeted, and practice replacing hurtful words with respectful language.

Using derogatory slurs damages trust, increases isolation, and perpetuates bullying. This lesson builds social-emotional skills, fosters inclusion, and reduces behavior incidents by promoting empathy and respectful communication.
