In this 30-minute 2nd-grade lesson, students will learn what compassion means and explore simple ways to show kindness in their daily lives. Through interactive discussions and role-play activities, students will build empathy and personal connections, fostering a caring classroom community.

In this fun, interactive lesson, 2nd graders learn a simple coping skill called “Wall Pushes” to calm down when they feel upset or frustrated. Students will understand how physical activities can help manage emotions, practice the technique, and reflect on when and how to use it. This one-session (30-minute) Tier 1 lesson builds social-emotional awareness and provides a lasting calming strategy.

A three-session mini-unit designed to help 2nd graders understand and practice empathy. Students will define empathy, recognize emotions in others, and engage in activities to show caring and understanding. Each 30-minute session includes a warm-up, engaging read-aloud, interactive activity, and reflection.
