In this 30-minute, one-session Tier 1 ELA activity for 3rd graders, students use emojis to identify and discuss characters’ feelings in stories, building social awareness and engagement. This dynamic lesson integrates social-emotional learning with ELA through a game, an interactive slide reveal, and a class discussion.

In this Tier 2 small group lesson, 3rd graders will explore peer support by sharing personal strengths and collaboratively designing a group emblem and banner celebrating each member’s unique contributions. Over a single 40-minute session, students will develop empathy, communication, and teamwork skills essential for fostering strong friendships and supportive peer relationships.
